An Overdue Update on My Affiliate Marketing Campaigns …

An Overdue Update on My Affiliate Marketing CampaignsFebruary 13, 2016Posted by Tyler CruzI’ve been dreading having to write this post as it will not be a happy one. In fact, it’s pretty sad.But my last affiliate marketing update was made all the way back one year ago on February 23, 2015, which was my monthly report for the month of November 2014, and so I know I had to give you guys an update on what was going on with my campaigns at some point.Cutting straight to the point, I haven’t been doing any affiliate marketing for a bit over a year. Literally nothing, apart from briefly trying a simple campaign once or twice for a couple days. As a result, I’ve made virtually nothing from affiliate marketing for 1 year now. This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise though, considering I haven’t posted about affiliate marketing at all in a long time, as well as the fact that I was heavily focused on real estate investment for about a year.

Rakuten Predicts Affiliate Marketing Growth to $8 Billion a Year …

Share ! New research by the fine folk at Forrester Consulting, and paid for by the great guys at Rakuten shows that performance and affiliate based marketing will grow in leaps and bounds in the next five years. The report claims that over 80% of all advertisers and 84% of all publishers are running some type of affiliate program. They survey also claims that 90% of all advertisers said that affiliate programs were important, and that up to 20% of all revenue was generated by affiliate programs. The most important part of the study seems to be that more and more advertisers are accepting that affiliate or performance marketing isn’t just about driving people to one sale, but can be part of an overall brand strategy that leads to more engagement.According Adam Weiss, the General Manager of the Rakuten Affiliate Network: “Affiliate marketing is a high-value, low-risk strategy proven to drive sales and awareness for brands and revenue for publishers and when done right, it cultivates mutually beneficial and authentic relationships between brands and publishers, and those publishers and their audience.”The survey claims that within 5 years the entire affiliate ecosystem will be generating almost $8 billion 7 Billion based on both direct and indirect sales.Full Survey can be downloaded here Related

How to Develop an Effective Affiliate Marketing StrategyA few months ago we published a post that focused on the ins and outs of how affiliate marketing works.A compelling point made in the post was that, if managed properly, affiliate marketing can bring in up to 10-20% of online revenue and have an ROI among the highest of any online channel. There’s no question that marketing through the affiliate channel can be a boon for sales, brand awareness, average order value, site visits, and conversions. However, if not developed and managed well, companies can be faced with off-brand messaging, fraud, and flat new customer growth, among other issues. Most potential downsides can be avoided altogether – if the affiliate program is developed with an effective affiliate marketing strategy from the outset. While not a panacea for any and all issues that might arise, the following tips are essential for companies and their CMOs to carefully consider prior to implementing an affiliate marketing program
